Taejon is one of the area's principal cities, about two hours south of Seoul by car. It is a major train junction for the Seoul-Pusan and Seoul-Kwangju-Mokp'o lines, and is rapidly becoming a major scientific center in Korea. On the outskirts of the city lies the Taedok Science Town, the site of Taejon  Expo'93. Yusong Hot Spring Resort is also located northwest of the city.

    Many research institutes and the Science Museum are located in Taedok Science Town.  


    The Hanil Bank, located in the conference site, provides general banking service from 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. daily. Refer to the KAIST campus map to know where it is.


    Various kinds of restaurants (Korean, Japanese, and western style) are placed at Hotel Lotte Taedok . Several less expensive restaurants are within walking distance. Also the student cafeterias in KAIST provide food service from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. There are three student cafeterias. Refer to the KAIST campus map to know where it is.
