The Cradle of Korean Science & Technology
Who will first make the future happen, and who will lead the world?
The one who innovates in science and technology will.
Taedok Science Town began to be developed in 1973, to meet the demands
of the times when homegrown scientific and technological capability had
to be secured for continuous economic development and the stronger international
competitiveness of domestic industries. As a first step this meant concentrating
our dispersed scientific and technological resources into an integrated
and creative power for greater efficiency.
The world is changing rapidly. The ongoing changes and opening resulting
from the end of the cold war is being felt in the fields of science and
technology in particular. The new trend toward technological hegemony and
technological nationalism makes impossible the development of any nation
without enduring innovations in science and technology.
Taedok Science Town will play the central role in achieving major innovations
in science and technology, the last obstacle to obtaining the status of
an advanced nation, with support from the government, industry and the
people. The long-term goal is advance and prosperity for mankind in the
21st century.
