The first draft of C++ API for TRAIT algorithms is now online (http://biometrics.nist.gov/cs_links/trait/NIST_TextRec_concept_and_api_2015_10_07.pdf). NIST welcomes suggestions and comments toward improving this evaluation. Please submit any contributions by October 30. A revised draft will be circulated shortly thereafter. We look forward to your participation or any additional correspondence in this regard. Best wishes, NIST TRAIT team TRAIT2016@nist.gov Important Dates: 2015-OCT-05 - 2015-NOV-15: API publication and public comment periods 2015-DEC-01 - 2016-FEB-08: Phase 1 submission period 2016-APR-06 - 2016-JUN-12: Phase 2 submission period 2016-AUG-10 - 2016-OCT-19: Phase 3 submission period ============================================================================ ========== Call for Papers: ICFHR 2016 ======================== (repost) === 15th International Conference on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition (ICFHR 2016) Shenzhen, China October 23-26, 2016 http://www.nlpr.ia.ac.cn/icfhr2016 The International Conference on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition (ICFHR), formerly called International Workshop on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition (IWFHR), is the most important event in the field of handwriting recognition. The aim of this conference is to bring together international experts from academia and industry to share their experiences and to promote research and development in all aspects of handwriting recognition and applications. ICFHR is a major event sponsored by the IAPR Technical Committee TC11 (Reading Systems). The series of the ICFHR conferences is a continuation of the ten IWFHRs (Montreal 1990, Chateau de Bonas 1991, Buffalo 1993, Taipei 1994, Colchester 1996, Taejon 1998, Amsterdam 2000, Niagara on the Lake 2002, Tokyo 2004, La Baule 2006). Previous ICFHR conferences were held in Montreal 2008, Kolkata 2010, Bari 2012, and Crete 2014. The 15th ICFHR (ICFHR2016) is to be held in Shenzhen, China, and be co-hosted by the Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA) and the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Character and Handwriting Recognition - Online Handwriting Recognition - Symbol, Equation, Sketch and Drawing Recognition - Handwritten Document Processing and Understanding - Language Models in Handwriting Recognition - Handwritten Databases and Digital Libraries - Information Extraction & Retrieval - Document Characterization - Form Processing - Word Spotting - Bank-Check Processing - Historical Document Processing - Forensic Studies and Security Issues - Writer Verification and Identification - Performance Enhancement and System Evaluation - Electronic Ink and Pen-Based Systems - Web-Based Applications Paper Submission Authors are invited to submit full-length paper of not more than Six (6) pages in IEEE conference format. Papers must describe original work on any of the ICFHR related topics. We would like to particularly encourage authors of articles that introduce new datasets, software or other material to submit such material to TC11 for hosting. Please check the TC11 site on information about how to submit datasets for archiving ( http://www.iapr-tc11.org/mediawiki/index.php/Datasets) also feel free to contact Marcus Liwicki, the TC11 dataset curator, for any doubts you might have on the process. Therefore, please contribute relevant news by sending a short notice to the newsletter editor Gernot A. Fink . Such news could be the obvious announcements of conferences and workshops, job opportunities, reports on past conferences, book reviews, or anything that might be of interest to a wider audience involved in the construction of reading systems. ============================================================================ ========== Subscription Information ======================================== This newsletter is sent to subscribers of the IAPR TC11 mailing list.
